A Preliminary Design Method of High-Power Electro-Hydrostatic Actuators Considering Design Robustness

Electro-hydrostatic actuators (EHAs) are expanding their application fields due to combined advantages of electric and hydraulic actuation. However, the control performance, weight, efficiency turn out be more challenging requirements when EHA power level increases over 30 kW. Therefore, a preliminary design dedicated trading off system-level performance based on multi-domain coupling analysis is necessary considering comprehensive parameter uncertainties. existing methods deficient in responding all these challenges. In this paper, an method proposed achieve optimum with robustness. First, parameters analyzed selected. Second, optimization EHAs realized by developing multi-disciplinary simulation models. The robustness also considered during design. Third, results evaluated specifically built model, which realizes high fidelity than models used for optimization. As result, general high-power fully achieved. demonstrated case kW aerospace applications, achieved 8 Hz bandwidth 69.92 kg weight. outline input information following detailed its applicability delivering robust engineering applications.
